From clasped hands to white dove: Jubilee Party rebrands with new symbol, slogan ahead of NDC
The Jubilee Party has conducted a face-lift of its
headquarters ahead of this weekend’s planned National Delegates Convention
(NDC) to be held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
The party headquarters in Pangani, Nairobi, was on Thursday night
awash with activity as new changes were effected all over the building; the old
symbols and colours were brought down with news ones put up.
The new symbol and slogan presumably indicate severed ties
with Deputy President William Ruto, who has since moved on to form the United
Democratic Alliance (UDA) after his fallout with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The clasped fists symbol, signifying the Jubilee unity after
13 political parties merged in the run up to the 2017 general election, has
been removed; in its place has been placed a white dove.
The yellow and black colours that represented DP Ruto’s then
United Republican Party (URP) have also been deleted from the new logo and
replaced with white and red colours.
The party’s ‘Tuko pamoja’ slogan from the days of UhuRuto has
since also been axed and replaced with a new one; ‘Mbele Pamoja.’
The new changes were also effected on banners displayed at KICC,
which is set top host the Jubilee Festival on Friday and NDC on Saturday.
Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju previously said the
agenda of the NDC will be to review the party’s policies and ratify proposed
changes to the party’s Constitution to comply with electoral laws.
Jubilee members are also expected to approve the party’s new seal, symbol and flag.
