Fresh twist in Rixxos Lounge saga as management speaks out on viral video
The
management of Kitengela's Rixxos Lounge now claims that the female employee captured in the now viral video allegedly
being harassed by the establishment's owner is part of a cohort of
workers who were secretly defrauding the entertainment joint.
In
a statement on Friday, Rixxos management alleged that
the female employee, alongside other waitresses and a barman, had been
reported to Kitengela's DCI unit in late November when the joint realised that
its books were not adding up.
They
were later allegedly arrested and questioned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), according to Rixxos.
"Recently
as the Rixxos management, we had an issue with a few of our waitresses and our
barman which we reported to the local DCI office on 24th November 2022 upon
which they offered help and arrested the workers on 1st December 2022 on
suspicion of stealing and defrauding from the company," reads the statement
seen by Citizen Digital.
"After
wide consultation with our IT department regarding losses, we have been
recording the past few weeks, we followed some leads and came to the conclusion
it was through the use of past Mpesa codes in our systems to settle the current
bills of our customers."
The
employees, Rixxos management added, were
later released on bond to allow for investigations to continue.
They
however allegedly opted to storm
the entertainment joint demanding their pay and hence the birth of the viral
video.
"After
release, they came to our premises threatening the management and hence the
drama began between our management and the aforesaid workers who were asking
for their monthly salary and that's where we made it clear that we could not
pay them until the investigation is completed," said Rixxos.
In
the video which has been trending on Twitter since Wednesday afternoon, the
establishment's owner can be heard hurling insults at the female attendant
while explicitly stating that he will not pay the woman what he allegedly owes
her.
He
goes as far as telling the woman that she can't do anything to him since he is
allegedly 'close' friends with President William Ruto.
"I
am not paying you. Mshenzi wewe, kwani unadhani unaeza nipeleka wapi? I talk
with the president, my friend," said the joint's owner while pointing to what
was presumably a picture of him and President Ruto on his phone.
"You
can't take me anywhere; I talk to the president directly. Mimi nikisema
nikukalie saa hii utaenda na kesi mbaya. Utakuwa unanipigia simu unanibeg.
Nishakuambia sikulipi."
