Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and
Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti have now been dragged into the Mavoko land
saga.
Six Ukambani Members of Parliament allied to the
Kenya Kwanza coalition say the two leaders are integral to the land issues
affecting Mavoko and the larger Machakos County.
The six MPs Vincent Musyoka, (Mwala), Mwengi
Mutuse (Kibwezi West), Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East), Caleb Mutiso (Machakos Town),
Joshua Mwalio (Masinga) and Nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda demanded that the
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) expands its list of those to be
investigated in the land saga.
MP Musyoka insisted that Kalonzo be
investigated to determine what acreage of land he allegedly benefitted from in
Mavoko through illegal allocations.
“This is not a Kamba issue but a cartel of
conmanship patronized by a few known politicians, and the crocodile tears from some
leaders we have seen in solidarity with the same people they stole from should
be ignored,” the Mwala lawmaker told the press.
MP Mutuse, on his part, stated: “We should
not beat around the bush, Wiper and their leaders must accept that this has
been a cartel used to fund their campaigns. Kalonzo should just accept that he
is a beneficiary of those proceeds fleeced from unsuspecting Kenyans.”
However, in a quick rejoinder, MPs allied to
Kalonzo dismissed claims by their Kenya Kwanza colleagues and asked them to
stop dragging the former Vice President’s name in the saga.
MPs Gideon Mulyungi (Mwingi Central) and
Robert Basil (Yatta) accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of going back on its
promise and demolishing people’s houses.
The two accused their counterparts of trying
to drag Kalonzo’s name into the land saga in an effort to excuse the government’s
actions.
“They said they are going to build houses,
they said they will not demolish houses, now they are doing the opposite, let
us not politicize this issue. Kalonzo Musyoka is clean, shame on those who are
associating him with Mavoko land cartels,” said MP Basil.
“MP Mulyungi added: “I am very disturbed by
the statement given by Kenya kwanza MPs, instead of empathizing with those
affected, they are passing the back, this is an affront to the Kamba community
and we will not accept that.”
