The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned four individuals believed to have been involved in online hate speech and incitement in Lamu County.

The four individuals identified as, Abubakar Ahmed, Omar Sharif, Mohamed Mbwana, and Feiswal Mohamed Miji were directed to appear at the Lamu DCI office by December 14th, 2023, at 9:00 am.

Their summon comes a day after a tour of the region by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki where he called for immediate investigation to unearth individuals in Lamu County spreading hate and incitement online.

Kindiki warned of stern action to be taken against those propagating these acts of criminality.

"I am directing law enforcement to find all inciters on social media and those who are seeking tribal and religious divides. We will prosecute them in court. Incitement of the public, ethnic religious hate is a crime and we will not allow it to happen," the CS said.
