Four people shot by police in Kisumu during last day of Azimio protests

Four people are nursing police gunshot wounds
at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) on the
last day of protests called by the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition
leadership.
Among
the four include a medical officer (clinician) attached to JOOTRH who was shot
in the Carwash area.
According
to the hospital management, the medic was at his house when a stray bullet
caught him on the left shoulder.
The
three others were shot in Kasawino, Kondele and Manyatta areas respectively and
are all set to undergo surgical operations.
There
have been reports of anti-riot police officers storming residential areas like
Manyatta, Kondele Bandani, and Nyalenda beating up locals.
Meanwhile,
the medics at JOOTRH have managed to remove 12 bullets from the body of an
18-year-old man who was shot in Nyalenda during Wednesday’s protests. The
hospital says he is in stable condition.
