Four people killed after bus rams tuktuk on Thika-Garissa road
Four people were killed following a collision
between a bus and a tuktuk at the Makongeni area on the Thika - Garissa road.
The crash occurred on Thursday afternoon when
the speeding bus rammed the tuktuk, killing its driver and three passengers
instantly.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as harrowing,
with the wreckage of the tuktuk scattered across the road.
The bodies of the deceased were transported
to General Kago Funeral Home, where they await identification and post-mortem
examinations.
Local residents have since expressed deep
concern over the increasing number of accidents on that particular stretch of
road.
They attribute the rise in accidents to
speeding vehicles and are calling for immediate government intervention.
"We need speed bumps installed urgently
to slow down traffic and prevent further tragedies," said Samson Njau, a
resident of Makongeni.
The call for speed bumps and increased road
safety awareness resonates strongly among the residents, who hope that decisive
action will be taken soon.
