Four 'Nyuki Squad' gang members shot dead by police in Nakuru
Police in Nakuru County have gunned down four
suspected members of the Nyuki Squad, a subsidiary of the outlawed 'Confirm'
criminal gang in Barut.
Nakuru County Police Commander Peter Mwanzo
says the four suspects were ambushed by plain clothes officers who were
conducting an operation in the wee hours of Friday morning.
Police are currently pursuing five other
suspects said to have fled the scene with gunshot wounds.
The officers recovered 30 arrows, SIM cards,
phones, crude weapons and bhang planted in the suspects' neighbourhood in
Kelelwet, Nakuru West.
In Kelelwet village, where the incident
happened, residents say that two brothers were among those who were shot dead
by police.
Mwanzo has since called on members of the
outlawed group to surrender to police before the long arm of the law catches up
to them.
