Four Homa Bay MCAs charged with assaulting court official

Four Homa Bay Members of County Assembly (MCAs) were on Tuesday charged with assaulting a court process server in November this year.

The accused; Nereah Amondi, Michael Ojala, Philemon Okombo and Michael Odira were arraigned before Senior Resident Magistrate Martha Agutu.

They pleaded not guilty and were released on a bond of Ksh 50,000 each with two sureties of similar amount.

The prosecution had asked the court to deny the suspects bail arguing that investigations were still ongoing, but the court declined the application.

The case will be heard on January 24, 2019 together with a similar case facing a number of MCAs from the Homa Bay County Assembly.

The four MCAs are alleged to have assaulted a court process server identified as Elvis Ochieng’ as he tried to serve the county assembly clerk Daniel Kaudo with a contempt of court order.
