Former Likoni DCIO Charles Onyango arrested over graft allegations
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested former Likoni District Criminal Investigation Officer (DCIO) Charles Onyango KA'galo.
EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi said the arrest took place on Tuesday at his rural home in Oyugis.
"The Commission is approaching bribery cases with the same vigour and determination applied to grand corruption," Ngumbi noted.
KA'galo is set to be arraigned before the Mombasa Anti-Corruption Court Wednesday morning, where he will face charges related to corrupt practices during his tenure in office.
“The Commission is deliberately intensifying its focus on bribery at service delivery points which causes signficant harm to the public,” Ngumbi said.
Following his arrest, KA'galo was detained at Port Police Station pending his arraignment.
Ngumbi underscored the EACC's commitment to tackling corruption at all levels of the public service.
“Citizens are urged not to succumb to bribery demands by public officials, but should report all such cases to EACC,” Ngumbi added.
