Former Kiambu Governor Waititu has been rushed to the Kenyatta
National Hospital (KNH) with high blood pressure complications.
This comes just a day after he was sentenced to 12 years in prison or pay a Ksh. 52.5 million fine following his conviction in a Ksh.588
million graft case.
In the
sentencing at Milimani Law Courts on Thursday, Waititu was similarly barred
from vying for any political seat for a period of 7 years.
He was
charged along with his wife, Susan Ndung'u, who was slapped with a one-year
imprisonment or pay a fine of Ksh.500,000.
The court convicted them on graft-related charges but
acquitted them on three counts of money laundering.
Their co-accused, Testimony Enterprises Limited
director Charles Chege, has also been slapped with a Ksh.295 million fine
or serve a 9-year jail sentence.
Beth
Wangeci, the second director at Testimony Enterprises Limited was also fined
Ksh.1 million or serve one year behind bars.
