Former Governor Tunai, ex-CS Farida Karoney land State jobs in fresh Ruto appointments
President William Ruto has made new appointments to his
government, according to a gazette notice seen by Citizen Digital dated August
23, 2024.
In the appointments, President Ruto picked former Lands
Cabinet Secretary Farida Karoney to chair the National Lottery Board for a
period of three years, with immediate effect.
He also appointed former Narok Governor Samuel Tunai to be the
Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).
Tunai now comes in to take over the position from Irungu
Nyakera, whose appointment is hereby revoked, and will serve for a three-year
term starting immediately.
The President, in turn, moved Nyakera to the Kenyatta International
Convention Centre (KICC) where he will serve as Chairperson of the Board of
Directors for three years.
In so doing, the Head of State effectively revoked the prior appointment
of Adelina Mwau to the same position.
Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Cabinet
Secretary Alice Wahome also made an appointment within the same gazette notice.
CS Wahome named Prof. Jeremiah Nyabuti Ayonga as a member of
the Physical Planners Registration Board for a period of three years.
The fresh appointments come after President Ruto had made
earlier ones, in which he presumably brought his allies from theproverbial political cold and back into the warm embers of government.
The Head of State appointed former ICT CS Eliud Owalo as his Deputy
Chief of Staff in charge of Performance and Delivery Management, and ex-Public
Service minister Moses Kuria as a Senior Advisor in his Council of Economic
Advisors.
He further named prominent digital strategist Dennis Itumbi as
the Head of Creative Economy and Special Projects in the Executive Office of
the President.
