Former Deputy Speaker Moses Cheboi among President Ruto's new appointments

President William Ruto has made additional appointments to his government as he continues to restructure his administration eight months after assuming office.

In a gazette notice dated April 28, President Ruto appointed former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Moses Cheboi as Chairperson of the Advocates Complaints Commission for a period of three years; the appointment took effect on April 27, 2023.

Peter Ereri Nyaga, Prof. Collins Odote Oloo, Mueni Kalola and Patrick Maina Muriuki will sit on the aforesaid commission for a similar period of time.

Advocate Joseph Gitonga M'limbine will lead the Nyayo Tea Zones Development Corporation as Chairperson for the next three years, according to the notice.

In the same notice, Chief Justice Martha Koome also announced the establishment of the Lamu High Court Sub-registry with effect from April 19, 2023.

CJ Koome likewise re-appointed Dr. Njaramba Gichuki as Chairperson of the National Civil Aviation Administrative Review Tribunal for the next three years.

Debra Ajwang, Karumba Kinyua, Kithinji Sylvia and Michoma Beth Kemunto have also been appointed as members of the Financial Cases Tribunal.

Murunga Bernard Wafula Munyefy will likewise sit on the Sports Dispute Tribunal as a member for a term of five years.

Koome has also appointed Abdirahman Adan Abdikadir and Jin Mohamed Huzna as members of the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal for a renewable term of six years.

Prof. Jenesio Kinyamario will also lead the National Biosafety Authority as Chairperson for the next three years.

ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo, on his part, appointed former Nominated Senator Rose Nyamunga as Chairperson of the Postal Corporation of Kenya for a term of three years.

Eng. James Wainaina, Felistus Wangari Mwangi, Simon Eric Mukhwana and David Kipkorir Kemboi will also serve as members of the Board of Directors of the Athi River Water Works Development Agency until 2025.
