Fishermen perturbed by pollution in Homa Bay beaches
The stakeholders want families living at the shores of Lake Victoria to take part in initiatives meant to protect the water body from pollution.
The experts say the lake continues to face increased threats mainly from pollutants which have a ripple effect on different forms of life and has resulted in the decline of various fish species.
Chairman of Aluora Makare CBO Willis Omullo called on the county government of Homa Bay and other government agencies to take part in protection of the lake from pollution.
Omullo, who is climate ambassador has proposed to the devolved unit to put bins in beaches where fisherfolks can dispose of waste to protect the lake.
He also urged people using Lake Victoria to ensure its environment is free from pollution and dangerous fishing methods.
