Fifth edition of little mister and miss environment Kenya held in Nairobi

The fifth edition brought together passionate young contestants from various counties across Kenya, each showcasing innovative environmental projects.
These projects covered key areas such as renewable energy, waste management, afforestation, water conservation, and sustainable agriculture.
The contestants' presentations demonstrated not only their deep understanding of environmental challenges but also their dedication to developing practical solutions.
The event was honored by the presence of the guest of honor, Kiogora Murithi, City Director of Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change, alongside Miss World Kenya 2022, Chantou Kwamboka.
The event director, Ms. Joan Musumba, delivered a powerful message on climate change, environmental sustainability, and the crucial role of children in shaping their own future.
She stressed the importance of empowering young people to be part of the solution, stating that the future is not just ours but theirs as well.
Expressing her concerns about the mismanagement of climate finance, she remarked, “It is disheartening to see funds meant for climate action being misused. The human race is creating its own apocalypse. Climate finance should be utilized wisely to achieve the greatest impact. We must shift our focus from profits to social impact—people and the planet should always come first.”
The environment-inspired event was a resounding success, showcasing the ingenuity and commitment of young contestants from across Kenya.
It also underscored the critical role of youth in environmental conservation and highlighted their capacity to contribute meaningfully to climate change mitigation.
Additionally, it provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, innovation, and advocacy as the participants prepared for the upcoming Climate Conference.
Little Mister and Miss Environment was established in 2018 to empower young minds to actively engage in climate change mitigation, adaptation, and resilience.
"By spotlighting these young champions, we not only celebrate their efforts but also create a strong platform that amplifies their voices and provides opportunities for the next generation of changemakers," Joan Musumba said.
She added, "The initiative fosters a positive attitude in children, inspiring them to strive for excellence from an early age."
The winners of the 2025 edition of Little Mister and Miss Environment Kenya are Grand Miss Environment – Alana Chelangat, 1st Runners Up Grand Miss Environment – Angel Ina Njeru and 2nd Runners Up Grand Miss Environment – Nicole Sanyu.
