Father on the run after poisoning Grade 2 daughter to death
A 7-year-old girl has died after being poisoned by her father, who reportedly mixed petrol with an unknown chemical following an alleged disagreement with his ex-wife, in Minyere village, in Ndhiwa, Homabay County.
The body of Grashines Lovely
Odongo, a Grade Two pupil at Minyere Comprehensive School, was found covered
with clothes in their house by a relative who went to visit them on Tuesday
morning.
She had been living with her
father and sibling after her parents separated three months ago.
According to the area assistant chief,
Javana Abuto, the girl was last seen on Monday evening with her father at their
home, only to be found dead on Tuesday.
Abuto told Citizen Digital that they
received information from the deceased's younger sibling, who said their father
mixed petrol with an unknown chemical and gave it to her sister, pretending it
was soda, which led to her death.
The administrator further mentioned that
the girl was assaulted, became unconscious, and was then poisoned by her
father.
Ndhiwa Sub-County Police Commander John
Losia, who confirmed the incident, stated that the deceased had foam oozing
from her mouth after the incident.
He added that police have launched a
manhunt for the father, who escaped after the incident.
The girl's body has been moved to Manyatta
Kobodo Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
