Farouk Kibet calls on leaders in conflict-prone areas to unite, promote peace

President William Ruto's Principal Assistant Farouk Kibet has called on leaders from conflict-prone regions to embrace peace and foster unity among their communities.

Kibet noted that only through peaceful co-existence can communities be economically empowered.

"Let this language of peace be extended to even the neighbouring counties of Samburu, Baringo, Pokot. Let us stop inciting the youth. Unite as govenors of this region and foster lasting unity and peace," said Kibet.

He was speaking during Kerio Delta Women empowerment program event held at Nakurio, Turkana Central Constituency, Turkana County on Saturday.

His remarks were echoed by Turkana Central MP Jeremiah Lomorukai who also insisted on leaders in the region to embrace peace.

Also in attendance was Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro who was the guest speaker at the fundraising event to support the Kerio Delta Women Group in  Nakurio.

On his part, Nyoro, who is the Chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee of Parliament said the government will set aside funds to compensate flood victims.

He said the allocation would help cushion the affected families from suffering.
