Family of missing blogger Bogonko Bosire seeks answers on his 2013 disappearance
The family of missing journalist and blogger
Bogonko Bosire still clings to hope that their son is alive and will return
home, 8 years since his mysterious disappearance.
The disappearance of their kin who was the
breadwinner has caused the family untold suffering with recent events where one
of his brothers’ reportedly committed suicide, only serving to compound their
misery.
Bogonko went missing in September 2013 and has
been nowhere to be found since, with the family's efforts to trace him bearing no
fruit.
But a recent tweet from Bogonko’s Twitter handle
in 2020 rekindled the memories and hopes for his family that their son is alive
and well.
Esther Bosire, Bogonko’s mother, said: “Tangu 2013 hatujamuona, tumemuulizia,
tunawasihi tusaidiwe kujua mahali aliko, tunaendelea kuuliza ikiwa ako hai na
ameskia ati tunamtafuta, tafadhali ajitokeze. Mzee ni mgonjwa, alipoteza memory
kwa sababu ya kufikiia juu ya huyu kijana.”
The eight-year wait has left the family of 7
devastated. Bogonko was the breadwinner, the family says he was generous and
instrumental in educating his siblings.
Elkanah Bosire, his
brother, stated: “Kupotea kwa ndugu yangu umeleta madhara kwa hii familia,
amefunza kutoka dada yetu mkubwa mpaka kitindamimba…yeye ndiye alikuwa everything,
mpaka shamba yenye tunakaa yeye ndio alinunulia mama kama zawadi.”
Videlis Kiago, a close
relative, chimed in: “Hiyo eight years down the line life imekuwa tricky kwa
sababu mimi personally alikuwa ananiuliza nataka kufanya nini.”
The family suffered another blow this week
when Bogonko's brother Joshua Bosire committed suicide.
They attribute this to the mysterious
disappearance of the brother, coupled with the deceased’s new role of taking
care of his ailing father that forced him to leave his job.
As they lay to rest their loved one, the
family holds on to hope that their son, brother, and friend who many knew as a
journalist and the owner of the defunct Jackal News blog, will resurface.
