Family of Form 3 student among 5 killed in al-Shabaab attack demands justice

As the sun rises on a quiet morning in Salama Village, Mama Pamela Agutu is in mourning. Five people were killed in an attack over the weekend, including her grandson Barrack Hussein, a form 3 student at Bakanja Secondary School.
Pamela claims that more than 40 men in military garb arrived at their house and told them to lie down before setting the place on fire and attacking a 19-year-old student who was visiting for a midterm break.
Later, the attackers killed four more men, including a 60-year-old man who they had tied up before killing.
They also took food supplies, including sugar, beans, and chickens, which they slaughtered on the spot before leaving.
''They burnt our house and shot him on the stomach before they slaughter him...I fear for my life and the life of my other children...'' She Said
The attack, which is believed to have been carried out by Al-Shabaab militia, has left the community in shock and grief. Coast Regional Commissioner Rhoda Onyancha visited the scene and promised that security would be restored, and the perpetrators of the heinous act would be brought to justice. Investigations are still ongoing to ascertain the cause of the attack.
''Investigations are ongoing I urge salama residents to be culm we will deal with this criminals ruthlessly.'' Said the Reginal Boss
Meanwhile, Pamela is struggling to come to terms with the loss of her grandson, who she describes as a bright and promising student. She says that Barrack had dreamed of becoming a doctor and was working hard to achieve his goals.
Lamu West Member of Parliament, Stanley Muthama, has called upon the security agencies to speed up the investigation process and bring the perpetrators to book. He has also urged the government to improve the network system in the area for better communication and response by the security agencies.
''I urge the Security Agencies to speed up their investigation and make sure we get to the bottom of this matter we can't allow people be killed everyday something must be done enough is enough.''Said the MP
As the community mourns the loss of their loved ones and tries to come to terms with the senseless violence, they are left hoping that justice will be served and that they will be able to live without fear of further attacks. For Mama Pamela and the other families who have lost loved ones, life will never be the same again.
