Family identifies body of missing taxi driver Victoria Mumbua at City Mortuary
Family members of the slain taxi driver,
Victoria Mumbua Muloki, have finally identified her body at the City Mortuary.
The discovery came after the interrogation of
a suspect, Edwin Ng’etich, who was found in possession of Mumbua's stolen
vehicle.
Victoria had been missing since September 27,
2024, and her body was booked at the City Mortuary on September 29 by officers
from Lari Police Station in Kiambu County.
Mumbua, a Mombasa-based taxi driver, was
identified by her family on Thursday morning after a thorough investigation
into her disappearance.
"Nilipigiwa tukakuja kuconfirm, that’s
my sister, tumeconfirm, she was killed,” said Meshack Kingi, a brother to
Victoria Mumbua.
"I don’t know how my sister was found at
Gilgil, from Mombasa mpaka Gilgil? I don’t know what happened, and it’s okay,
now she’s dead and I’ve confirmed it’s her. The phone ilipatikana kwa gari
ikachukuliwa na DCI."
Detectives from Mombasa, Nakuru, Lari, and
the homicide headquarters, led by Officer Nyuguto, were present at the City
Mortuary to update the family on the progress of the investigation.
At this point, the main suspect, Edwin
Ng’etich, who was arrested in Nakuru while driving Mumbua’s vehicle, is
currently being held at Kilimani Police Station.
"Huyu jamaa ndiye aliwapelekea,
akawaonyesha this is where we killed her. I need to know who killed my sister,”
noted Kingi.
Records show that the suspect, Edwin
Ng’etich, has committed similar offences before.
Mumbua went missing on Friday, September 27,
after accepting a ride request from Mombasa to Samburu.
