Friends, family, and colleagues assembled at All Saints Cathedral Church in Nairobi today in a funeral service to honour the life of the late Michael Oyier, a former KTN anchor who passed away on April 20th due to stroke-related complications.

Oyier was mourned as a trailblazer who will be remembered as a pioneer figure in the media field.

In a solemn funeral service marked by both tears and fond memories, friends, family, and colleagues gathered today at All Saints Cathedral Church in Nairobi to bid farewell to Michael Oyier, a beloved figure in the world of journalism.

Oyier, a former journalist at KTN, passed away on April 20, 2024, succumbing to complications from a stroke he suffered just two days prior. The funeral service held today is a testament to Oyier's impactful legacy.

Close to three decades, his history and his life have been a part of USIU Africa and have been able to impact lives in ways that we cannot understand.

His family mourned him as a loving person with an unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand.

Oyier touched the lives of many with his kindness and compassion. His wife, Dinah Nasimiyu Oyier, paid tribute to her husband as a disciplined, royal, and committed man.

"Michael was royalty; his sense of focus, discipline, being intentional just pouring into lives, service, and his interactions were so deep that I could only say he was royal to me," said Dinah Nasimiyu Oyier, Oyier's wife.

"Michael, in that gentle nature, is a child that any mum would wish for, and I thank God that I have known Michael for all that time. It is very difficult to say goodbye, Michael, but because you know that we had so many arrangements that we had to do, I promise you I AM GOING TO DO IT," expressed Nancy Gitonga, Oyier's parent.

Oyier, who has left behind two children and one wife, will be remembered as a man whose profound impact was felt on the country through the power of words and storytelling. Michael Oyier will be laid to rest on Friday in his home in Dala Kanyada Katuma in Homa Bay County.
