Families of Wundanyi crash victims identify kins' bodies
The Saturday accident claimed six lives, including those of 4 students from Dr. Aggrey Boys High School, a parent and a PSV driver.
Even as families struggle to come to terms with their loss, concerns persist over the circumstances leading to the students' unexpected dismissal from school.
The tragedy followed a series of fire incidents at the institution, raising unanswered questions about the true cause of the fires and the decision to send students home.
Dr. Aggrey High School Parents Association (PA) Chair Teddy Malabo has urged for calm, stating that the administration is still piecing together details and will provide an update soon. He assured parents that affected families would receive support.
Taita Taveta Parents Welfare Chair Tyson Mberi has emphasized the need for parents to guide their children on discipline, noting that the repeated fire incidents point to deeper issues that need addressing.
He, however, reiterated that the school had communicated the decision to send students home, though some parents may not have received the information in time.
Authorities continue investigations into both the accident and the school fires as the community demands answers and accountability.
The Ministry of Education on Sunday sent a condolence message to the families.
