Fake veterinary officer arrested in Nakuru for conning farmers
Kenya Veterinary Board officers in collaboration with
security personnel, have arrested a man from Kiamunyi in Nakuru County for
posing as a professional veterinarian and deceiving farmers.
The arrest was made after officials disguised as farmers
seeking veterinary help apprehended the suspect identified as Robert Koech.
According to the Chairman of the Kenya Veterinary Board Dr Benson Kibore, they had received numerous complaints from farmers in Kiamunyi and its surrounding areas about questionable veterinary services, prompting them to track down the suspect.
The operation also led to the closure of several agro-vets in Nakuru County.
Farmers in the South Rift region have been urged to be
cautious about using counterfeit livestock inputs and to ensure that those
involved in veterinary services comply with the law.
