Fake KDF officer arrested for conning civilian Ksh.378,000

Police have arrested a man who is alleged to have defrauded a civilian of Kshs 378,000 disguising himself as a KDF officer.

James Juma, who was arrested on Monday, hoodwinked a civilian that he would secure his son a place in the military and later issued him a fake KDF calling letter bearing the son's name.

In a statement, KDF maintained that there is currently no recruitment exercise stating that the countrywide recruitment was officially closed on November 26, 2021.

"We further warn that anybody who presents a fake calling letter at the training institutions will be arrested. Official calling letters were issued at the recruitment centres by the Senior Recruiting Officer," read the statement.

Juma is currently in police custody as investigations into the case continues.
