The Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted light showers in Nairobi and some other parts of the country over the next two days.

Met, in its daily weather forecast on Wednesday, said Nairobi County and its environs would experience low to moderate rainfall from Wednesday through to Thursday morning.

The weatherman cautioned that the downpours may be accompanied by storms in some regions.

“Been dry lately? Some rain is on the way this evening! 9am Wed 12 – 9am Thu February 13, 2025. Expect light (0-5mm) to moderate (5-20mm) rainfall in 24 hours, with isolated storms in some areas,” read the forecast.

Although most parts of the country will remain dry, Met noted that rains should be expected in areas within the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and South-Eastern Lowlands.

Counties affected in the Highlands East include Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi, while those in the South-Eastern Lowlands are Kajiado, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Tana River and Taita Taveta counties.

At the same time, Met said strong winds of 12.5 metres per second are expected in Northwestern (Nyandarua and some parts of Laikipia) and Northeastern Kenya (Mandera, Wajir and Garissa).
