Ex-Nairobi Governor Kananu, Amoth, Sossion, Gabriel Oguda shortlisted for PS positions

A total of 109 candidates out of 2,517 applicants have been shortlisted for the position of Principal Secretary (PS), among them notable public figures.

Director-General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth, former Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Secretary-General Dr Ouma Oluga, former Chief Administrative Secretary David Osiany, social media commentator Gabriel Oguda and former nominated MP Wilson Sossion have made the list.

Others include former Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) board chair Anne Makori, former PS State Department for Development of Arid and Semi-Arid Lands Micah Powon, and Dr Macharia Irungu, who served as Kenya Pipeline Company managing director.

Former KBC Managing Director Dr. Naim Bilal, Ambassador Galma Boru, former CEO Kenya National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak and Prof. Loice Maru from Bomet University are among those shortlisted.

Abdirashid Salat Abdille who served as a member of the Tailoring and Garment Manufacturing Trades Wages Council following his appointment in 2021 and Moi Teaching and Referral (MTRH) board member Dr. Erneo Nyakiba were also shortlisted.

Public Service Commission (PSC) Chairperson Anthony Muchiri attributed the vacancies in the posts to recent reassignments within executive ranks, which drew a long list of 2517 applicants.

Those shortlisted will undergo interviews on a yet-to-be-announced date, after which names of successful applicants will be forwarded to President William Ruto for formal appointment.

Meanwhile, members of the public have been invited to provide any information regarding the shortlisted candidates through sworn affidavits.

“Submissions can be made to the Secretary/CEO, Public Service Commission, or via email at principalsecretary2024@publicservice.go.ke by January 24, 2025,” PSC said.
