Ex-Mungiki Leader Maina Njenga has been freed after hours of questioning by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers in Nakuru.
This follows summon requests by detectives in Nakuru two days ago, which prompted Njenga to present himself on Wednesday.
Njenga is being probed on allegations that on May 11, at his home in Wanyororo area in Nakuru North, he invited people to a meeting whose purpose was to provide instructions connected with Mungiki, an outlawed organized criminal group.
"We have cooperated with the police and we will continue to do so," Njenga's lawyer Ndegwa Njiru told journalists.
Earlier in the day, a Nakuru Court declined to give orders stopping the DCI from arresting Njenga.
Senior Resident Magistrate Emmanuel Soita pointed out that he cannot handle a file from another court.
"The court cannot pronounce itself on a file of another judicial officer. This is a court 8 file," ruled Soita.
