In a statement penned to the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja on Tuesday, Gachagua claimed that there have been countless attempts to take his life after being ousted from office in October 2024.
He accused IG Kanja of purposefully withdrawing his security "in a clear thought-out scheme and backward conspiracy to make me vulnerable to an organized criminal ganga in collaboration with the police."
Gachagua further claimed that there have been attempts to attack his homes in Nairobi, Nyeri and other homes by individuals well known to the IG, "or where you are a culpable accomplice".
"NIS operatives trail and stalk me and me immediate family members in unmarked cars or clandestine number plates. This is an affront to right to privacy," read the statement in part.
Backing his claims, Gachagua listed a chronological order of events where he was allegedly attacked by organized gangs and police officers.
He noted that at a funeral service in Limuru in November 2024, a team of goons attacked him and his convoy, further harming mourners, terming it a failed assassination attempt.
He also claimed that IG Kanja, in December 2024, was flanked by gangs to disperse his supporters in Nyandarua County, lobbing teargas canisters at mourners.
The same trend was witnessed in January 2025 at a prayer rally organized by his spouse Dorcas Rigathi in Nyeri, where a gang "well known to you" disrupted the event and his wife was whisked away from the premise.
Gachagua went on to add that the disruptions were also witnessed on March 23, March 29 and April 6.
He questioned why, despite raising an alarm on the aforementioned incidents, no action has been taken and authorities have turned a blind eye.
The embattled ex-DP therefore demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of the said perpetrators and the immediate deployment of security in all gatherings that he will attend.
He further told IG Kanja that he needs private security and warned him against interrupting peaceful gatherings.
Gachagua also demanded the expeditious protection of his homes and told IG Kanja to stop NIS officers from trailing him and his family members.
