As the Environment and Land Court Justice conference enters day two in Eldoret, key stakeholders have noted that the ELC plays a key role in sorting out issues that have bedevilled Indigenous communities for a long time.
Eldoret Environment and Lands Court judge Lady Justice Jane Onyango said the law will allow them to air out their challenges and seek justice.
Justice Onyango noted that the ELC has the mandate to balance between environmental conservation and the rights of the Indigenous communities that have been living in the forests.
She said the ELC too has a role in ensuring that the law on conservation matters are guided property.
