The
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has raised a red flag on the use
of fake academic papers to gain employment.
EACC
chairman Bishop David Oginde, speaking in Kisumu on Monday, said the issue of
fake certificates is eroding gains made in the education sector.
He warned
Kenyans getting employed using fake certificates that the law will catch up
with them and a return of monthly salary, assets and the resources earned for
the period worked will be pursued.
“We
will have to recover all the money you got through that process, even if you
worked 20 years, we will want all the money you earned during that time,” Bishop
Oginde said.
On
land grabbing, the EACC chair said the rate being reported is so high and the commission
is closely following the matter, adding that they have put measures to bring it
to a stop.
Oginde
spoke after paying a courtesy call to Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o.
The
EACC chair said that in Kisumu, they are working closely with the county
government to ensure all public land which has been grabbed is reverted through
a legal process.
“We
want to see a situation where Kenyans own property that is rightfully theirs,”
added Oginde.
