Embu governorship aspirant Cecily Mbarire’s campaign poster elicits mixed reactions
Mbarire, who is eyeing the county’s top seat under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, on Saturday tweeted a poster that looks nothing like the usual yellow-and-green themed materials her counterparts use.
Not even a wheelbarrow featured on Ms. Mbarire’s poster. Instead, the aspiring governor went for a minimalistic, low-key lit profile shot, her hands held together.
At the top-left corner of the poster, a beam of light comes from what seems like a star, with the words ‘The new hope for Embu’ placed next to it.
Kenyans on Twitter, in their usual fashion, were quick to point out what they found to be an unfitting aesthetic for a campaign poster, saying that it resembled an obituary.
Some even said it resembled an album cover by a gospel musician.
Its giving: “A life well lived” 😭 https://t.co/aCfGCu5BED
Genuinely thought she died or was dropping a gospel album. https://t.co/30IhSPJuDH— Brian K. (@Yenyewe) May 1, 2022
