Embu: Curfew declared in Kamiu village after two bodies discovered

Kamiu Location Chief Sammy Njagi confirmed the curfew will be enforced from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. He warned that anyone found violating the directive will be treated as a suspect in the ongoing spate of muggings that have plagued the area.
According to Njagi, the bodies—believed to be of young men, possibly students—bore signs of physical injuries. He said it's unclear whether the deceased were victims of robbery or suspected criminals attacked by residents.
"If they were indeed criminals, residents should not take the law into their own hands. Such suspects must be handed over to the police for interrogation," Njagi emphasized.
He noted that the high student population in Kamiu has made the area a target for muggers, who exploit the vulnerability of young residents. Njagi urged the youth to refrain from criminal activities and instead focus on building a better future through honest work.
Residents expressed shock and fear following the grim discovery. Paul Maina, a local boda boda operator, said there had been reports of a robbery the previous night and speculated that the two might have been confronted by members of the community.
"It's not clear whether they were lynched by a mob or attacked by fellow thugs," Maina said.
The bodies have been taken to Embu Level Five Hospital mortuary as investigations begin. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
