Police in Embu County have launched investigations after the body of a middle-aged man was discovered dumped in a thicket at Kiriari Riamaciri Village in Ngandori West location.

The deceased, identified as 52-year-old Kenneth Muchagi Njiru, was a resident of the neighbouring Riamaciri Village.

His body was found on Thursday, February 6, along a footpath frequently used by locals to traverse their farms on the way home from Kathangari Shopping Center.

According to area residents, Muchagi is believed to have been killed on Wednesday night before his body was dumped in the secluded area. The motive behind the killing remains unclear.

Danshon Njiru, the father of the deceased, expressed shock and grief over his son’s death, further calling upon the police to conduct a thorough investigation to uncover those responsible for the murder.

"My son was last seen alive and happy. I never imagined that just hours later, I would be called to identify his lifeless body on a farm," Njiru said.

Friends and relatives who gathered at the scene described Muchagi as a quiet and loving person who got along well with everyone in the village.

"He was a friendly man. It's heart-breaking to see his life end this way," said one of the neighbours.

Reports indicate that Muchagi was last seen on Wednesday evening socializing with friends at a bar in Kathangari Trading Center.

Officers from Kangaru Police Station visited the scene and moved the body to Embu Level Five Hospital mortuary pending autopsy and further investigations.
