Eldoret: Four killed in head-on crash involving school bus
Four
people, including a four-and-a-half-year-old
girl, were killed in a road accident on Friday night after a private vehicle
collided head-on with a school bus at Mutwot area along the Kapsabet-Eldoret Road.
Police
reports indicate that the private vehicle, a Toyota Hiace, was heading towards
Eldoret from Kapsabet when its driver lost control, swerving into the opposite lane
and colliding head-on with the Cheptabach Secondary School bus, an Isuzu, registration
no. KDA 911Y, enroute to Kapsabet.
Four
people died during the 8:00 PM collision.
“As
a result, the following died on the spot, adult male driver, male passenger, adult
male passenger, female 4.5 years old child passenger,” a police report documenting
the incident reads.
“An
unknown number of passengers in both vehicles rushed to different hospitals in
the region scene visited and all necessary action taken.”
The
bodies of the deceased persons were subsequently taken to Samaritan Funeral Home
in Kapsabet pending identification and post-mortem.
The
vehicles' wreckages were also ferried to Mosoriot Police Station awaiting
inspection.
