Ekuru Aukot: Gachagua should apologise for lying to Kenyans when he was DP
Speaking on Citizen TV's Daybreak, Aukot explained that Gachagua was a 'gun for hire' during his heyday as DP as he praised the government's policies at every opportunity.
Gachagua's change of heart, according to Aukot, was triggered by his impeachment and subsequent dismissal from the ruling party.
"Rigathi Gachagua and Muturi are speaking some truth but I find them dishonest. You cannot say you're a truthful man but when in office you're told to lie to Kenyans and claim to be honest," Aukot stated.
"Whereas he's doing an exposé of the rot in government, he was part of that rot."
To make amends with the public, the Thirdway party leader pointed out that Gachagua should apologise for being Ruto's key defender when he was the second-in-command.
"He should have started with a public apology to Kenyans saying thank you for electing me as Deputy President, however, I apologise that we've been lying to you. I don't think he's truthful at all. This is just political theatrics."
The former DP has been calling out the ills of Ruto's government following his ouster, which some argue was done at record speed.
From the Affordable Housing scheme to the Social Health Authority (SHA), Gachagua has faulted these policies for being quick money-minting schemes for the wealthy.
Gachagua's political career now hangs in the balance as his petition challenging his impeachment is still in court.
