Eight teachers arrested in Homa Bay for alleged exam malpractice
The teachers were arrested on Monday after they were reportedly caught photocopying a Chemistry exam paper within the school compound.
The suspects, currently held at Homa Bay Police Station, were detained by a multi-agency team involving officials from the Ministry of Education and the National Police Service.
Homa Bay Sub-County Police Commander Emmanuel Kiplagat confirmed the arrests, stating that the exam paper was intended for a student who was hospitalized.
Those arrested include the school’s center manager, invigilators, and teachers employed by the school’s Board of Management.
Kiplagat added that all evidence was confiscated and will be used in the case against the suspects.
In response to the incident, the Ministry of Education has replaced all exam officials at the school to ensure that the 119 candidates can continue with their exams without further disruption.
