Education leaders rally for expansion of CBC centres nationwide

Education stakeholders are urging the government to invest more in the education sector by expanding CBC centres across all counties. These centres would serve as hubs where schools lacking facilities can access shared resources within their communities.

During the launch of an AI centre at Gravity CBC Centre in Nairobi, education leaders emphasized the transformative potential of such initiatives. By incorporating games and playful learning, the centre aims to revolutionize Kenya's education landscape.

Duncan Arimi, CEO of the center, highlighted the use of a locally assembled super machine to engage learners effectively.

Additionally, the centre is hosting a free expo for school heads this week, demonstrating the significance of artificial intelligence in education.

School heads in attendance praised the CBC model for its forward-thinking approach to preparing children for the future. Paul Wanjohi, a board member of the centre and leader of APBET Schools, urged the government to invest in teacher training to ensure educators keep pace with educational advancements.

The expo will take place from April 22 to April 27, 2024, at Lang’ata National Housing Corporation (NHC).

Sessions at the expo will explore AI applications in motivational learning, the integration of AI in virtual experiential learning and AI’s role in sports and fitness learning.

Also to be discussed will be virtual production and animation using as well as advanced flight simulation and aeronautics power.

“We extend an invitation to school directors, principals, administrators and teachers to explore these groundbreaking  innovations and discover how to prepare their learners for the future,” said the centre,
