‘East Africa’s Got Talent ’ show to air exclusively on Citizen TV
The East African version of ‘Got Talent’, one of the world’s most popular reality television shows, will be aired exclusively on Citizen TV.
The show which was founded by British talent competition judge Simon Cowell runs in 58 countries and will now have Kenya, Uganda Tanzania and Rwanda onboard.
“This will be a platform to display the talent of people of all ages who have any gift that they would like to share with the world,” Safaricom chief customer officer Sylvia Mulinge said during the launch in April.
‘East Africa’s Got Talent ’ is expected to hit television screens in August 2019.
Five years ago, the Guinness World Records recognised the ‘Got Talent’ show as the world’s most successful reality TV formats.
Safaricom is the main sponsor of the East African leg in partnership with Fremantle and Syco Entertainment as well as Rapid Blue, a South African production company.
Sports and Culture CS Amina Mohamed, on her part, said the show is a big step towards nurturing talent and preserving culture.
The show that is to be filmed in Nairobi will run for 10 weeks as contestants go through three auditions.
Successful candidates will make it to the finals to battle it out for the grand prize of $50,000 (Ksh.5million).
‘East Africa’s Got Talent’ will be hosted by Ugandan queen of comedy Anne Kansiime.
Auditions are expected to start on June 1-2, 2019 at the Kenya International Conference Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.
In Mombasa, the auditions will be held on May 19 at Nyali School.
Kenyans of all ages can take part and if one is unable to attend the auditions in person, they can send in a one minute talent video via WhatsApp to +254703437903.
