EALA MP Florence Jematia arrested over alleged incitement

East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member Florence Jematia has been arrested in Nairobi following controversial remarks she made over the weekend in Baringo. 

According to reports, Jematia was apprehended on Wednesday by police officers in Nairobi's Westpark Estate and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Headquarters for questioning.

On Tuesday, a manhunt was launched for the MP in order to have her record a statement after she allegedly asked residents of Mochongoi in the Baringo South Constituency to raise funds to buy firearms while accusing the government of laxity in dealing with insecurity in the region.

The arrest comes just a day after Baringo County Commissioner Abdrisak Jaldesa asked the MP to surrender to police over alleged incitement.
