Drama at MP Oscar Sudi’s home as youth block attempts by police to arrest him
Drama was for the better part of Friday night and early Saturday morning witnessed outside the home of Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi after hundreds of youth blocked the road in an attempt to bar the police from arresting him.
A contingent of police officers led by Uasin Gishu County Police Commandant Johnstone Ipara camped outside the vocal MP’s compound over incitement allegations asking his lawyer Gladys Boss to persuade him to come out.
Ms. Boss, who also doubles up as Uasin Gishu Woman Representative, alongside Cheptiret/Kipchamo MCA Gilbert Tenai at 3am told Mr. Ipara that even they had no access to the MP’s residence, further asking them to wait until daytime to serve Sudi a warrant of arrest, if there was any.
Sudi’s lawyer said it was difficult to access the legislator’s compound as it was dark, also accusing police of disconnecting power at the residence.
Police had a hectic time controlling a group of angry youth who barricaded the road leading up to Sudi’s residence.
Witnesses later told Citizen Digital that one person was injured during the commotion with the men in blue.
Sudi has been on the limelight following a viral video in which he launched a scathing attack against President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family.
The legislator also spoke out against the dramatic arrest of his Emurua Dikirr counterpart Johanna Ng’eno who is facing hate speech charges.
Sudi’s video attracted countrywide outrage with a section of women leaders demanding an apology.
