DP Ruto plugs 'kazi ni kazi' slogan into Jamhuri Day address

DP William Ruto speaks during the 58th Jamhuri Day celebrations on December 12, 2021.
Deputy President William Ruto has
reiterated his commitment towards a society with equal opportunities for all
citizens.
In his
Sunday Jamhuri Day celebrations address, DP Ruto assured his boss President Uhuru
Kenyatta of his determination to ensure every Kenyan feels included and part of
the beneficiaries of the national cake.
“We are
determined, Your Excellency, as we focus into the future to ensure that all the
institutions are built to create an equal society,” said the DP.
“Where every
citizen can equally sing our national anthem and say, Natujenge taifa letu…
kila siku tuwe na shukrani, tukijua kazi ni kazi,” added Ruto, coyly plugging
the popular slogan he has been chanting in his campaigns.
The deputy president
further hailed President Kenyatta for setting up the Uhuru Gardens Museum as a
place for immortalization of Kenya’s history.
“We want to
congratulate you for your stewardship in transforming these grounds to a truly
Uhuru Gardens. It was something else before,” said Ruto.
Sunday’s
celebrations were the 58th since Kenya’s independence, held at the
newly-revamped Uhuru Gardens in Lang’ata, Nairobi.
Ruto has
been a punching bag to his competitors for the slogan which he has used to
popularize his bottom-up economic model, his platform in his 2022 presidential
bid.
One Kenya Alliance co-principals have all
criticised him for propagating it, with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader
Raila Odinga even dismissing it as “outdated” and
one that offers no practical solutions to challenges facing the youth.
He has, however, maintained his stance,
insisting that “the hustler nation” is ready to form the next government come
2022.
