DP Ruto meets AU-COMESA Observer Mission at Karen home

Deputy President William Ruto on Friday held a meeting with the African Union-COMESA Election Observer Mission at his Karen home.

Ernest Bai Koroma, former President of Sierra Leone, led the meeting, which comes just three days after Kenyans voted in the hotly contested General Election.

Domituen Ndayizeye (former President of Burundi), Mulatto Teshome (former President of Ethiopia), and Ambassador Marie-Pierre Lloyd were also present.

The DP said on Twitter that the mission congratulated Kenya and voters on a peaceful election.

"At the Karen Office, held a meeting with the AU-COMESA Election Observer Mission who congratulated Kenya and voters for a peaceful election" DP Ruto Tweeted.

Meanwhile, presidential results of the just concluded polls are yet to be announced to the public, with all independent tallies by Kenyan media appearing to have stopped.

According to the IEBC, the process has largely been delayed by presidential agents, with the commision's chairperson Wafula Chebukati warning them against interrogating the returning officers.

"We're not moving as fast as we should. This process should be concluded as soon as possible. We advise that agents cannot proceed in the manner that which we are proceeding, its as if we are doing a forensic audit," said Chebukati.

"Please do not interrogate the returning officer. If there are any cases of disruption we shall remove you from this tallying centre."
