They spoke in Likoni and Jomvu constituencies during Kenya Kwanza fundraising forums, drumming up support for President William Ruto amidst the ongoing one-term vs two-term politics debate.
Kenya Kwanza politicians on Saturday kicked off another round of economic empowerment initiatives in Mombasa, touring Likoni and Jomvu constituencies.
The leaders used the opportunity to slam the opposition, accusing them of sowing seeds of discord across the country.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, President’s aide Farouk Kibet, and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula blasted the opposition, claiming they were promoting divisive and tribal politics.
“There is a group moving around dividing Kenyans along tribal, religious, and regional lines. President Ruto has made it clear that under his leadership, and that of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, there will be no discrimination of any kind,” said Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
“I appeal to all of you not to allow any leader to incite you or bring hateful politics. You’ve seen their politics is rooted in hatred,” said Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah.
“When you talk about setting traps, remember that people from the Coast deserve respect in this country,” added National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
The leaders accused opposition figures of using looted funds to fund chaos in the country.
The team also continued their attacks on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of failing to unite the country while in office.
Kindiki led the charge, urging Kenyans to support President William Ruto’s second term, stating that the Kenya Kwanza administration was focused on unlocking key economic drivers, particularly in the coastal region.
“The ongoing protests are portraying the country as unsafe for tourists, yet tourism is a major economic pillar here at the Coast and across Kenya,” said Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe.
“Let’s support him. How many terms? Two terms!” said Mining and Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho.
“That’s why we are saying two terms – so we can build more roads, empower women with more jobs. That is the meaning of two terms,” added Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
Later in the day, the Deputy President toured Mbeere North constituency in Embu County, inspecting key development projects which he said would unlock economic opportunities in the county.
