DP Gachagua, Pastor Dorcas host thousands of kids for a Christmas party
More than 4,000 children flocked to the residence as early as 7 a.m. for the incredible day-long fete, which featured a variety of entertainment activities, including performances by members of the Police Force.
The event fulfilled a promise made by the Deputy President to the children in October of this year during a development working tour in the Mount Kenya region.
"I am happy that police officers who volunteered to entertain the children. We have a police service that serves the people, a service that is friendly to everybody. It is the reason we have police officers here today mingling with children, showing them love, care and entertaining them and interacting with them. Because it is no longer a police force but service. I happy officers have spent time playing with you, playing with you and taking care of you. That is the modern Kenya," said the Deputy President.
The Fun Day featured a fantastic selection of games, live music, dance, and other exciting activities such as a choo-choo train, face painting, bouncing around in bouncy castles, quad-bike rides, jump on trampolines, slides, and merry-go-rounds, among others.
Mr Gachagua and Pastor Dorcas spent time with the kids, taking them on quad bike rides, face painting, and dancing. They also hosted a luncheon for the kids.
"It is so fulfilling spending time and listening to the children. Children's affection and love is our greatest wish as a nation. When we see high number of children we know our future is secure. I am happy to have you as my visitors today," said the Deputy President.
Concerning education, he stated that the Kenya Kwanza administration has simplified the Competency-based Curriculum (CBC) structure to better meet the needs of Kenyan children.
"We love the children and we wish them the best. President William Ruto and I have gone out of our way to secure future of the Kenyan children because this generation is Kenya, our country is the young people. It is the reason the President formed a presidential working party to streamline the CBC and reform other education programs to align them with what is good for our children. Our government has also employed 56,000 teachers to improve the pupil-teacher pupil," he said as he delivered Christmas greetings from President William Ruto.
Pastor Dorcas said they will organise a similar Fun Day next year and share the gift of God's love.
"We are excited to be with you today. We want children to enjoy themselves. We wish all Kenyan children a joyous Christmas and a prosperous New Year. No body should mess your lives. We pray that God's enduring and unconditional love continues to strengthen and inspire us," she said
"We wish all Kenyan children a merry Christmas and a prosperous year 2024," she added.
Karen, a third-grade student, stated that this was her first time attending a fun day and jumping on a bouncing castle. She expressed gratitude to the Deputy President for organising the event.
And, because photos are a tangible memory, the children were overjoyed to have their photos instantly captured and printed.
On the crackdown against illicit brews, the Deputy President said the exercise is bearing fruit since families are coming together and youths are marrying and siring children.
