DP Gachagua: How I bought my Ksh.15M Kahawa Sukari land with proceeds from my 'mobile disco'
This he said while recounting his heydays with a former colleague at the University of Nairobi who joined him for an early morning run during his visit to Botswana, where they met.
Gachagua says that his colleague, Ichangai Muiruri, is a land economist who has lived in Botswana for 25 years where he "runs the biggest Land Valuation firm" in the country.
"I invited him to join me in my early morning run for us to catch up. As we walked through the streets of Gaborone, we traced our treasured memories in the Eighties, as he took me through the opportunities in real estate and farming in Botswana that Kenyans can invest in," he Tweeted on Sunday.
DP Gachagua went on to add that Muiruri gave him a business opportunity when he hired his Mobile Disco for his pre-wedding and a subsequent evening party.
The second in command said that he earned Ksh.1500 on each occasion, making him pocket a total of Ksh.3,000.
"With the Ksh 3,000 from Mr. Ichangai, I added another Ksh 2000 to place a Ksh 5000 deposit. It was a 10% deposit for a quarter of an acre plot at Kahawa Sukari in Nairobi that was then selling at Ksh 50,000," said Gachagua.
At the tail end of his grass to grace account, DP Gachagua said: "Today, I receive daily offers to sell the same plot for Ksh.15 million. Tumetoka mbali! Tena mbali saana.
