Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has disclosed that the oncoming Limuru III conference slated for tomorrow has shadow sponsors who may be willing to splash money on the attendants.

Speaking on Citizen TV’s Tonight Show on Thursday, CS Kuria who rescinded his decision to attend the conference said the event which attracts leaders from the Mt Kenya region has sponsors across the political divide.

Despite not naming the specific sponsors of the event, Kuria said he was aware of the wealthy individuals behind the conference, further revealing that an unnamed person had already donated Ksh.10 million to the meeting.

The controversial CS then lightly advised attendees not to leave the conference empty-handed since there was ‘enough money’ for everybody.

“Someone is sponsoring Limuru III. There are people sponsoring it…I know someone who has put Ksh.10 million on it and I want to tell people attending Limuru III that don’t go home hungry, pesa iko,” Kuria said.

The CS slammed the frontliners in the meeting saying that contrary to the Limuru I and II conferences which had a national agenda, the Limuru III event did not have a clear objective as the former events.

CS Kuria argued that having been part of Limuru I and II meetings, he was well acquitted with the political structures of the mountain and would have played a big part in addressing matters of economy if he had been allowed to attend.

“Someone is sponsoring Limuru 3 for their own reasons. Limuru has always been for the good of the nation. From the bottom of my heart, I meant to support Limuru 3. I would have wanted to go and tell Limuru where we are, in terms of the economy we have to have sacrifices, we have to think long term,” he said.

“Limuru I was a nationalist agenda because Kibaki was saying, we can stay in one corner and the rest of the country is moving elsewhere. Limuru II came during the ICC situation. Limuru II met and resolved that William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta at that time had every right to be on the ballot in 2012, which became 2013…so it was a national agenda. Meeting by the region, but agenda was national.”

On his decision to miss on the guest list despite announcing on Wednesday that he would be among the sponsors, Kuria said Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni who is among the organizers of the initiative had revoked his attendance.

“I was part of Limuru 1, I was part of the organizers for Limuru 2 and I don’t see anything wrong with Limuru 3. Only to wake up yesterday and Kioni is speaking all over, fighting me, saying the way I am not invited and I am inviting myself. I thought this was a community meeting,” Kuria explained.
