Kioni dismisses Raila's claims on Uhuru involvement in Ruto deal
Kioni who addressed the press on Wednesday rubbished Odinga's assertions accusing the latter of attempting to drag Uhuru's name into the mud after allegedly making the unpopular decision to work with President Ruto.
He cited the past letter by Kenyatta where he mourned the loss of Kenyans killed during the protests and urged elected leaders to listen to their constituents, saying that in the same way, the ex-president was against Ruto's regime and its policies.
"Uhuru Kenyatta's position is that you cannot join a government that is bent on causing all the havoc that it has caused Kenyans. Killing them, abducting them, removing all the social support system that was there through budgeted corruption where we can see wastage of resources...this is not a government to join but one that we should be working to remove as provided for in the Constitution," said Kioni.
"If you want to know his thinking, his position, and why you should be careful about what Raila said yesterday, and what I hold to be untrue and not accurate, then you know what Raila said was misleading."
Contrary to Odinga's sentiments that Kenyatta called and implored him to speak with President Ruto for the sake of unity in the country, Kioni said that Kenyatta's political stance at the moment did not align with Odinga's remarks.
He argued that the Azimio chief was blaming others since he was aware that he had made the wrong decision to work with the Kenya Kwanza regime despite its dwindling popularity among the majority of Kenyans.
"Good relationship is there but it is not good to drag other people's names in the mud. When you make wrong decisions, learn to live with them, don't try to blame others," he noted.
"The decision made by Raila is wrong, and I am sure he will be saying many things which are not accurate including what he said in Marakwet."
Kioni who recently fell out with Odinga in Azimio further pointed out that the former premier had a habit of lying to the public to his advantage after being caught in controversial situations.
He referred to the issue of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report asserting that Odinga kept the whole Azimio team in the dark as he quietly engaged the government.
"Even in the issue of NADCO, the advice was separate and I can also see when Raila was engaging Obasanjo, it was not in the full knowledge of all of us in Azimio; we learnt of it after the event," said Kioni.
