DCI table CCTV footage in murder case involving lawyer

Before presiding judge Robert Wananda, Inspector Daniel Kieny explained that the footage showed a three day house party held at an apartment in an annex area along the busy Eldoret-Nakuru highway.
The party which ended in a sad mood had been organized by an Eldoret based advocate who had invited more than 10 friends among them the accused Abel Mogaka and his slain colleague Calvin Ngaira.
Kieny told the court that the accused person used a broken bottle which he stabbed the slain lawyer on the left side of his neck during an ensuing fight outside the apartment.
Ngaira had barely practised for three months in Eldoret town before he met his death on May 18, 2019.
Ngaira is said to have succumbed to the injuries at Mediheal Hospital in Eldoret where he had been rushed to in critical condition by his friends he was parting with at the party.
In the CCTV footage, the accused person and the deceased are seen walking from the apartment house and engaging in a cordial talk before returning back to the house where the party was being held.
According to Kieny, moments later, the accused is seen holding a glass as he walks out of the house while followed by the slain lawyer before a fight ensues between the two.
The prosecution counsel Brenda Oduo filed an application to recall the first witness Edith Chebet to shed some light on the event leading to the stabbing of the slain lawyer on the material day.
The hearing of the case to continue on March 9, 2025.
