DCI officers to start wearing real-time body cameras

DCI detectives will start using body cameras as early as Friday.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers will now incorporate high-tech body cameras into their gear in a bid to document their actions while scouring the streets for criminals.

According to the DCI, sleuths will start using the body cameras which have infrared, night vision and live stream capabilities, as early as Friday.

“They will form part of our crime management kit and will record real-time events as they unfold!” the DCI said in a statement.

“Stay tuned for tonight’s action as the elite Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) sleuths backed up by Special Service Unit (SSU) go out on patrol!”

The new technology has been picked up by DCI following overwhelming requests by netizens keeping tabs on the agency on social media.
