DCI offers cash reward to re-arrest Kware murder suspect Collins Jumaisi

DCI offers cash reward to re-arrest Kware murder suspect Collins Jumaisi

Suspected serial killer Collins Jumaisi Khalusha appears in court on July 16, 2024.

For the past two months, Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the main suspect in the Kware massacre where 42 women were killed, has been on the run following escape from Gigiri Police Station.

Jumaisi escaped police custody alongside 12 suspects on August 20, 2024 after cutting the wire mesh at the basking bay. 69 days after the incident, he is still at large.

Law enforcement officers are running around circles in an attempt to trace the suspect's whereabouts, offering cash rewards to Kenyans who will provide information that will lead to Jumaisi's re-arrest.

The post did not disclose the amount offered as a reward.

On Monday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) appealed to the public to reach out through the anonymous hotline to provide any reliable information.

"If you have any information regarding Collins Jumaisi Khalusha's whereabouts, we encourage you to share it confidentially through the anonymous #FichuaKwaDCI hotline at 0800722203 or reach out to the police through the hotlines 999, 911, and 112," the post read in part.

"Additionally, you are welcome to visit any police station within the country. Your support could greatly impact the re-arrest of this wanted suspect. Every piece of information is valuable."

Jumaisi had initially confessed to the murders of the 42 women, including his wife, following the discovery of bodies at the Kware dumpsite in early August.

Following his arrest, Jumaisi's lawyer John Maina Ndegwa claimed that the suspect was tortured to confess, statements which DCI detectives refuted.

“My client has been subjected to horrendous inhuman mistreatment so that he can confess to issues which are alien to him. I pray that the court directs for urgent medical attention even as they do their investigations," Ndegwa noted.
