DCI emerges second in U.S award
Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) emerged second in a competition by Sumuri, an American software company for a high end forensic software.
This followed an intense voting campaign by the five security agencies nominated for the prize; four of them being police units from the United States.
While Henry County Police won the prize, the software company confessed to being overwhelmed by the support the DCI received, hence has decided to gift them too.
“This year we were blown away by the number of votes we received – almost 700,000. I thank everyone who voted & am truly humbled to announce the winner of a very hard fought battle,” said Jason Roslewicz, Sumuri’s Chief Executive Officer.
“Your country’s effort in coming together for this campaign made it an even more humbling experience. Congratulations to our SUMURI Gives Back Runner Up – DIGITAL FORENSICS UNIT, KENYA! You too will receive a TALINO workstation to help your team save more lives.”
The DCI, on its part expressed gratitude, to the Kenyan public for their support, further congratulating the Henry County Police Department on their win.
“Thank you everyone for your support,” said the DCI, adding ”When we come together for a good cause, great things do happen.”
The other three security agencies that were nominated are Elkton Police Department, Washington Police Department and the Philadelphia Police Department.
